He is married to a Punjabi girl from Delhi, Gauri (now Gauri Khan). Other notable roles include his part in the James Bond movie A View to a Kill, a guest role in Alias Smith and Jones, and two villainous roles in Battlestar Galactica. Shahrukh also owns a production house called Dreamz Unlimited along with actress Juhi Chawla and film director Aziz Mirza. Steed was also the central character of a revival, The New Avengers, in which he was teamed with characters played by Joanna Lumley and Gareth Hunt. All of the five movies in which he co-starred with actress Kajol were box office hits - however Kajol announced her retirement from movies after Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Despite numerous roles in theatre, on television and in cinema, Macnee is still best known as the inimitable secret agent John Steed in the series The Avengers. Initially a secondary character--the series was conceived as a vehicle for Ian Hendry, who played an associate of Steed's--Steed (and Macnee) became the centre of the show after Hendry's departure at the end of the first season, playing opposite a succession of female partners that included Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg, and Linda Thorson. He also has received many awards for his contribition to cinema, making him the recipient of 11 Filmfare awards, the most ever won by anyone acting in just one Indian language. He has also won three Filmfare Critics Awards (one for one of his better movies Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa 1993, one for the huge hit "Mohabattein" and one best villain award for an obsessive lover in Anjaam). Most recently he won the award in 2002 for his strong portrayal of a drunk lover in the remake of the tragic movie Devdas.
