Lindsay Morgan Lohan (born July 2, 1986, New York, New York) is an American actress and singer.

Child actor

Lohan began her career as a model for the Ford Academy at the age of three. As a model, she found work in more than 60 television commercials.

Her acting ability was soon noticed and she began to work on soap operas such as Guiding Light and As The World Turns, with a yearlong stint as Alli Fowler on Another World. Lohan also appeared on Healthy Kids, a children's health show, along with Dinah Lohan, her mother and business manager.

Graduating to movies

She moved on to a film career in 1998, reprising Hayley Mills' role in Disney's remake of the 1961 Mills vehicle The Parent Trap. Lohan, as Mills had, played twin sisters who conspire to reunite their estranged parents. The film, co-starring Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson, introduced Lohan to a wider audience.

Lohan's next feature film, a remake of the 1976 classic Freaky Friday, would come five years later in Summer 2003. In the intermittent period, Lohan starred in two Disney Channel Original Movies: Life Size and Get a Clue. Lohan's re-emergence in Freaky Friday catapulted her to her current status as an MTV darling. Lohan portrayed the protagonists in the 2004 Disney films Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Mean Girls.

Lohan is currently pursuing a pop music career concurrent with her career in films, and performed her song "Ultimate" in Freaky Friday. On July 13, 2004, Lohan signed a recording contract with Casablanca Records. Her album, Speak, was issued on December 7, 2004, and reached #4 on the Billboard charts. The first single is called "Rumors."

Lohan is involved in charity projects such as The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Foundation, Save the Children, The United Cerebral Palsy Association, and her own charity organization, Dream Come True.

In the media spotlight

According to news reports there is some animosity between Lohan and Hilary Duff because they both have dated Aaron Carter. At the Cheaper by the Dozen movie (in which Duff co-starred) premiere party, Duff and her mother allegedly tried to have Lohan thrown out (to no avail).

As of 2004, she is considered by many to be a teen idol.

Also in 2004, it was revealed by Tiger Beat magazine that she and fellow actress Raven-Symoné live together as roommates, but due to the fact that neither of them were ever at the apartment, the arrangement fell through.

Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael, has had a few problems with the law. In July 2004 he was arrested for skipping out on a $3,800 hotel bill. This came after a very public arrest and subsequent assault charge after an altercation with his brother-in-law at a May 2004 family party. Michael Lohan is reportedly working out a plea bargain deal with prosecutors. On October 1, 2004 Michael Lohan pleaded guilty to assault of a NYC sanitation worker which stemmed from a December 2003 incident. Michael was sentenced to anger management classes. [1] (http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,15054,00.html) Lindsay Lohan's management has publicly suggested that she distance herself from him because of his legal problems.

While denied by Lohan, it is rumored she received breast implants. [2] (http://www.liquidgeneration.com/blog/2004/05/blog-post.html)

In December of 2004, Lohan released her debut album Speak. She had previously flirted with the music industry by recording some singles for her starring role in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and Freaky Friday.
