Junior Durkin

Junior Durkin (July 2, 1915 – May 4, 1935) was an American film actor.

Born Trent Bernard Durkin in New York, New York, Durkin began his acting career in theater while a child. He entered films in 1930, and played the role of Huckleberry Finn in Tom Sawyer (1930), and Huckleberry Finn (1931). Under contract with RKO Studios he was cast in a series of "B" films in comedic roles that capitalized on his gangly appearance. He achieved another success in Hell's House (1932).

RKO began grooming him for a transition into more adult roles, and in his final film Chasing Yesterday (1935), he was billed as Trent Durkin.

In 1935 he was travelling with his friend, the actor Jackie Coogan, and three other people including Coogan's father, when their vehicle was involved in a road accident in San Diego, California. Coogan was the only survivor of the accident.

Durkin was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.

Durkin was interred in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. In 2003 he appeared in the indie film Dogville. Coogan was the only survivor of the accident. Now in his seventies, Gazzara is still acting. In 1935 he was travelling with his friend, the actor Jackie Coogan, and three other people including Coogan's father, when their vehicle was involved in a road accident in San Diego, California. In the 1990's he appeared in 38 films, mainly "made for TV" productions. RKO began grooming him for a transition into more adult roles, and in his final film Chasing Yesterday (1935), he was billed as Trent Durkin. His most famous acting roles include Quicker Than the Eye (1989), High Velocity (1977), Voyage of the Damned (1976), Capone (1975), The Bridge at Remagen (1969), A Rage to Live (1965), and Anatomy of a Murder (1959).

He achieved another success in Hell's House (1932). He has had a long and varied acting career, with spells as an accomplished director too. Under contract with RKO Studios he was cast in a series of "B" films in comedic roles that capitalized on his gangly appearance. However he lost out on the film role to Paul Newman. He entered films in 1930, and played the role of Huckleberry Finn in Tom Sawyer (1930), and Huckleberry Finn (1931). He studied at the Actor's Studio in the 1950's and starred in various Broadway productions, most notably "Cat on a hot tin roof".
