J. Geils Band

The J. Geils Band was a very popular rock and roll band, playing to large arena crowds in the United States in the 1970s before moving towards a more pop-influenced sound in the 1980s. They are perhaps best known for the single "Centerfold", an international hit in 1982.

The band started as an acoustic blues trio in the mid 1960s with guitarist J. Geils, bassist Danny Klein and harpist Richard "Magic Dick" Salwitz. In 1967 the band switched focus, starting to play electric guitar and bass and recruiting drummer Stephen Jo Bladd and singer Peter Wolf, both from Boston. The following year Seth Justman joined as an organist and the group signed to Atlantic Records in 1970.

This religion teaches tolerance towards the many different good and true ways that a person can worship and praise the Lord.

This deeper meaning explains the importance of the unity of faith and charity in life, and it assures anyone a place in Heaven if they believe in some form of God, and live a good life by their religion. He explains that the entire Bible, like Jesus' parables, has a deeper parable-like meaning to it. The New Church is based on the Writings of Emanuel Swedenborg who was a servant of God - a revelator - who brought a new understanding of the Bible to the world. When these two elements become married in our lives, then we are truly in the image of God.

Neither of these two elements works properly on it's own. These two elements take on many names including: good and truth, faith and charity, will and understanding, thoughts and affections, love and wisdom, masculine and feminine, intellect and compassion. It teaches about the eternity of Heaven and Hell, the eternity and importance of true marriage love between one man and one woman, and the importance of a life of useful service. The New Church is all about the marriage of two elements that are too often separate in our lives. This religion teaches that the Lord's second coming happens for all of us when His Divine Truth is born again in our hearts, minds, and lives.

It teaches that God took on the natural human form of Jesus in order to show us that we can have a personal relationship with Him, and to open the communication between heaven and earth so that we can be enlightened again. Who is in essence, Divine Love and Wisdom. It is a Christian Church that believes in One Human God Who is knowable, personal, and loving. Solomon was born and raised in the General Church of the New Jerusalem (http://www.newchurch.org); a branch of the New Church, sometimes known as Swedenborgian.

In 2005, Solomon successfully completed - with Honor Student Recognition - a course in Recording Engineering from the Audio Institute of America. He then attended four years of college at [Bryn Athyn College of the New Church (http://www.brynathyn.edu)], and received an Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Religion. He attended third grade through 10th grade at the Kempton New Church School. For his last two years of high school he was part of a group homeschooling program called ASPIRE (Alternative Schooling Inspiring Real Education). Solomon grew up in Kempton, Pennsylvania.

Tolkien fan, as well as a huge Star Wars fan. R. R. I'm a huge J. "When I'm not actively engaged in music or being a husband and father, my other interests include drawing and painting, juggling, sailing, Lego, and reading.

Solomon's wife, Tirah, who also comes from a musical family, has a wonderful voice, and has written several songs of her own. Solomon and Roxanne have composed a number of pieces for flute and piano, which they intend to record. One piece, which they call "Trio" is a flute, recorder, and piano piece written by Solomon and both of his sisters. Solomon's mom, Roxanne and Tamar have also composed some solo piano pieces. They get to see each other often, and are all still very close. Solomon has two sisters: Roxanne and Tamar; both are married with kids.

They have a daughter, Thea Clarity, born on February 2, 2003 and a son, Cirdan Ewan, born on June 13, 2004. They live in Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania; a little town, about a half an hour west of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Their Wedding March, entitled "Angel's Birth," was a piece that Solomon composed. "We met in college when we found we had the same astrological sign (Pisces) and started laughing at the horoscope page together when we read the newspaper in dining hall." They fell in love and were married on June 24, 2001. Solomon is married to Tirah Marie Echols Keal.

I played it over and over until I mastered it, I still love that piece." [[6] (http://www.vinceguaraldi.com)]. I was probably in my early teens when one of my mom's cousins, Tom Rose, taught me how to play "Linus and Lucy," that famous Vince Guaraldi theme to the Charlie Brown cartoon. Film composers have also been a great source of inspiration for Solomon's music, especially composers that use piano, such as James Horner [[5] (http://www.james-horner.com)] "I remember one specific event in my life that was a huge influence on my love of playing the piano. George Winston's music especially inspired Solomon, and assured him of the simple and powerful beauty of solo piano.[[2] (http://www.georgewinston.com)] [[3] (http://www.windham.com)] [[4] (http://www.amgram.com)].

Specifically, the music of George Winston of Windham Hill, and Chip Davis of American Gramaphone. His dad was the one who introduced him to two music labels which greatly influenced Solomon: Windham Hill Records, and American Gramaphone. Ian has excellent taste in everything from Classical music to Rock music. His dad plays guitar, but his primary influence on Solomon was in the area of recorded music.

It was through his mom that Solomon learned to love pianists like Scott Joplin, Hagood Hardy, and John Odhner. She frequently plays for [church (http://www.newchurch.org)] services, and has her own small business as a piano teacher. His mom plays the piano and the guitar. His parents, Ian and Wellesley Keal, have been a large influence in Solomon's musical background.

Talent of any kind is a God-given gift, and I thank the Lord for the privilege to compose music."[[1] (http://www.solomonkeal.com)]. When I play some of the pieces I've written, I can't help but feel that I was not the only author. "Composing is both a powerful and humbling experience. Recently he's been teaching himself more about jazz piano.

Solomon is a Songwriter as well, and writes mostly Country music and Christian music songs, as well as some love songs with his wife Tirah. But, he has also co-written pieces for flute and piano with his sister, Roxanne. Mostly, Solomon plays solo piano. The process of "coming of age" gave him a need to express himself, which he did most effectively through the piano.

The intellectual and artistic stimulation brought about a surge of creativity. His years in college were by far the most fruitful for composition. In 1993, when Solomon was 16, he composed his first piano piece entitled: "Thunderstorm." Since that time, he has written, on average, about 5 or 6 pieces a year. He learned the feel of music.

He learned what made a song sound good. It was a challange that he still loves. His love of music never disappeared and he loved trying to figure out how to play the songs that he knew and loved. He began to teach himself to play the piano by ear. But, after about a year he found himself coming back to the piano again.

When he was 12 years old, he stopped taking formal piano lessons. In 1985 they moved back East to Kempton, Pennsylvania. There wasn't a piano teacher available, so Solomon's mom taught him and his sisters. He didn't like taking lessons very much, and at the time he never would have guessed that he would grow up to be a composer for the piano. Solomon started taking piano lessons in 1983, in first grade, from a lady named Polly Schoenberger.

His mom is a pianist; both of his parents play the guitar; and they all love to sing. He was the first in a family of three kids who all grew up listening to, and loving music. He spent most of his early childhood across the state in Pittsburgh. Solomon John Keal was born in 1977 near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in a little town called Bryn Athyn.

Like his major influences - George Winston, Scott Joplin, Hagood Hardy, Jim Brickman, James Horner, and John Tesh - Solomon Keal's compositions have touched thousands of lives with the peace and beauty of classic solo piano music. Then in 2000, he made his second album, ["Heritage" (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/keal00)]. In 1998, with the extraordinary help of Clark Ferguson (Bearswamp Studios), his family and friends, Solomon made his first album entitled ["Thoughts and Affections" (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/keal98)]. Solomon took formal piano lessons for 6 years which laid the foundation for his being able to compose an average of 6 solo piano pieces a year since 1993.

His music can be classified as New Age music or NeoClassical music and reminds us of the folk piano style of George Winston. He composes all original peaceful solo piano music.
