In 1999, Allen decided to return to performing in pornographic films, appearing in the film Ginger Lynn's Torn. She died in New York, New York from cancer. In 1996, Allen gave birth to a son, Sterling Wayne Robert Allen. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to Motion Pictures at 1612 Vine Street. In February 1986 Allen decided to stop making adult films and attempt to establish a career in mainstream films using her full name. Born Adrienne Ruth McClure in Fort Worth, Texas, Ames began her film career in 1927 as a stand-in for Pola Negri.
