Donna Reed

Donna Reed (January 27, 1921 - January 14, 1986) was an American actress. Born Donna Belle Mullenger, Reed is probably best remembered for her roles as the wholesome housewife Donna Stone on American television's The Donna Reed Show and as Mary Bailey in Capra's It's a Wonderful Life. She won an Academy Award for playing a prostitute in From Here to Eternity. In her later years she temporarily replaced Barbara Bel Geddes as Miss Ellie in the television series Dallas in the 1984-1985 season. When Bel Geddes was well enough to return to the role, Reed was fired. She sued the show's production company and received an undisclosed seven-figure settlement.

She died at age 64 in Beverly Hills, California from pancreatic cancer and was interred in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.

The Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts was organized after her death in 1986. The non-profit organization grants scholarships for performing arts students, runs an annual festival of performing arts workshops, and operates The Donna Reed Center for the Performing Arts. She is going to play the principal part. The Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts was organized after her death in 1986. She is also in the process of composing a musical about a singer/dancer/actress who leaves Puerto Rico to hit the big time in New York. Roselyn Sanchez has already participated in 16 movies and will be cast in the role of "Maria" in the Hollywood production "Edison", which will be out in the year 2005.

In her later years she temporarily replaced Barbara Bel Geddes as Miss Ellie in the television series Dallas in the 1984-1985 season. She played this character from 1996 to 1997. She won an Academy Award for playing a prostitute in From Here to Eternity. She became the first hispanic to play a Latina character, in its' 50 year history, when she played the role of "Pilar Domingo".

Roselyn returned to New York and landed her first English speaking role in the CBS soap opera, "As The World Turns". Donna Reed (January 27, 1921 - January 14, 1986) was an American actress. In Puerto Rico, she gained public attention as a dancer and co-host of the island's #1 variety show "Que Vacilon". In 1993, Roselyn won the Miss Puerto Rico Petite contest and in 1994 she won the international title of Miss America Petite. She landed a small part as an island girl in the movie "Captain Ron", starring Martin Short and Kurt Russell.

In 1992, she made her movie debut. In 1991, at the age of 21, Roselyn moved to New York City, where she took classes in dancing, acting and singing. However, that was not her calling and after three years she called it quits. Roselyn enrolled in the University of Puerto Rico, where she was to study marketing, like her father and brothers before her.

She would put on shows for her family. At a young age she showed an interest in dancing and acting. She received her pirmary education in San Juan. She has three older brothers.

Roselyn lived with her father and mother and is the youngest of four siblings. Roselyn Sanchez (Born March 14, 1970), born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, is the first person to play a hispanic character in one the most important soap operas in the U.S..
