Dharmendra (born December 8, 1935), born Deol Dharmendra Keval Krishna in Phagwara, Punjab, is an Indian legendary actor who acted in successful Hindi films between 1962 and 1977.

Dharmendra's sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol are also successful actors. His daughter Esha Deol from Hema Malini is also an actress.

He produced the film Barsaat (1995) as a launchpad for his son Bobby.

He became a Member of Parliament in 2004 General Elections from Bikaner in Rajasthan on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.

He produced the film Barsaat (1995) as a launchpad for his son Bobby. He has also directed movies Wanda Nevada and Idaho Transfer. His daughter Esha Deol from Hema Malini is also an actress. He has appeared in such movies as Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry (1974), Race With The Devil and 92 In the Shade (both 1975) The Cannonball Run (1981),Najda (1997), and Ulee's Gold (1997), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. Dharmendra's sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol are also successful actors. Fonda's career has not been particularly fruitful in the ensuing years.

He co-wrote the film with Dennis Hopper and Terry Southern, and the trio was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay Based on Material Not Previously Published or Produced. Sholay (1975) - one of the most successful films in the history of Hindi cinema. It was in 1969 that Fonda made the cult movie for which he is still known, Easy Rider. Chupke Chupke (1975). This experience shows in Fonda's 1967 film The Trip, which is about taking LSD. Seeta aur Geeta (1972). John Lennon wrote the song "She Said She Said" about Fonda, who told him "I know what it's like to be dead" following an LSD trip.
