Industrial plant in Wisconsin laying off over 25% of workforce after loss of production

GRAFTON, Wis. (WFRV) – An industrial plant in Wisconsin announced it will lay off over 25% of its workforce after a massive production loss.

Pace Industries, one of North America’s leaders in full-service aluminum die casting, zinc die casting, and magnesium die casting, has submitted a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) stating its intentions to lay off several workers at its Grafton facility.

Corporate officials with Pace Industries say the company has “suffered a loss of production work at its Grafton plant and anticipates the layoff of more than 25% of its employees.”

The plant, located at 1600 7th Avenue, will begin employment terminations on June 15, 2024, or within a 14-day period thereafter. The layoffs are expected to be permanent.

Pace Industries’ layoffs will initially affect 44 employees. They will occur in phases, and updates will be provided as additional layoffs are determined. In total, Pace Industries expects around 90 employees to be laid off.

The affected employees are not represented by a union. They are not entitled to bumping rights, meaning senior-level employees whose positions have been eliminated won’t be offered alternative positions currently held by a less-senior employee.
